Vinyl Siding:
Vinyl siding has come a long way in the last few years. But like everything else it has it's share of pros and cons. Some of the pros are that the colors are solid, never need painting, and are fade resistant. Vinyl siding is very durable and a wise investment that adds value to your home. Vinyl siding is virtually maintenance free. And most brands offer lifetime warranties. Some of the cons are that the colors can be limited compared to painted siding. Though durable vinyl siding can still be damaged from extreme weather or impact. It is sometimes more difficult to repair than wood. When choosing a brand make sure they are certified from the Vinyl Siding Institute's Certification Program. Always try to go with the thicker panels. Panels can range in thickness of .040 inches to .044 inches to even .05 inches thick. Check the nail hem. The nail hem is where the panel is fastened to the sheathing. Some brands offer a double nail hem which resist being torn off by extreme winds. Panel projections also vary. The panel projection is how far the panel projects from the wall after installed. It can range from half an inch to three quarters of an inch. The thicker the panel projection the more it will resist warping or sagging over time.
We blanket the walls with top quality insulation board before installing the siding and all material and workmanship come with Excellent Warranties!

This is a house in Louisville, Tn that got damaged from the hail storms of Spring of 2011. The homeowner Mr. Watne, hired a roofing contractor to come and replace the roof. The contractor gave Mr. Watne a price to do the siding as well. So the roofers immediately started to remove the damaged siding. Then after leaving the sheathing open and exposed to the elements they began replacing the roof. After the company replaced the roof they informed Mr. Watne that they could not find a match for that particular siding and would not be able to complete the job. Mr. Watne was on the other side of the world at the time as he is a military man.
Much of the damaged siding was removed as of Sept. 2011. They just took it off exposing the sheathing, laid it the yard, and left it. The picture above shows exactly how the house was when we got there and set up and began the work.
Mr. Watne contacted Grace Home Improvement through the Free Online Estimate page and I immediately went out and assessed the situation. After locating the correct siding I gave Mr. Watne a price and he said to proceed with the work.
After dealing with the other company and how they left the situation, Mr. Watne got an opportunity to fly in and be present during the replacement and repair work done on his house.
We had to special order the siding and after 10 days the materials were in and we began work. The double 4 straight lap siding we aquired was a perfect match, color and texture. So we replaced the damaged siding, installed new 6" gutters, Leaf Relief Gutter Guards and wrapped the garage door in green prepainted aluminum trim coil. Mr. Watne was very pleased with our crew, how well the siding matched, and how easy it was to deal with us and get the job done RIGHT. Here's some more pictures:

Since the storms of April and May 2011, there are a lot of fly-by-nighters in the area. Be careful who you choose to do the work on your house. The company who began work on this house left the homeowner a great deal of stress. It only takes a minute to check with the BBB, call references, ask lots of questions. Find a company that is local, that was here before the storms and will be here long after all the repair work is done.
